Senior Behavior Health
At our Senior Behavioral Health Center, we offer individualized care in a warm, supportive atmosphere. We utilize a short-term inpatient treatment process for older adults who are experiencing behavioral and/or emotional problems. Our 15-bed geriatric unit is conveniently located at Emanuel Medical Center so additional health concerns can also be addressed. A customized treatment plan is developed for each patient. Prior to discharge, our team will explore and recommend appropriate settings and resources to assist the patient based on his or her level of functioning. Our Team consist of a Psychiatrist, Medical physicians, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Social workers, Nursing staff, Mental Health Techs, and Activity therapist. Treatment Includes assistance with coping mechanisms and problem solving abilities, Educational groups, family support, group and individual therapy and medication management all under the direction of a physician.

- Social withdrawal/hopelessness/helplessness
- Cognitive impairment/Increased forgetfulness or confusion
- Loss of interest in personal appearance/hygiene
- Crying spells
- Delusions and/or Hallucinations
- Aggressive or combative behavior
- Agitation
- Paranoia
- Refusing to take medications
- Recurrent thoughts of dying
- Suicidal ideations
- Homicidal ideations
- Failure of outpatient psychiatric treatment
Admission
Admissions are accepted 24 hours a day. Referrals from physicians, psychologists, mental health professionals, social workers, social service agencies, hospital emergency departments, family members, friends, and even self-referrals are accepted.
