Imaging and Radiology

The diagnostic outpatient Imaging Department at Emanuel Medical Center offers a wide range of imaging services to diagnose a variety of conditions. Our Radiologist are Board certified and are highly trained in all our imaging modalities. Our Technologist are registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology and provide high-quality professional care to our patients.

Imaging Services we provide:

  • Computed tomography (CT)—CT scans involve combining a series of X-rays to create a 3D image of an area of the body. These scans allow physicians to see inside the brain and blood vessels to detect signs of an injury.
  • Digital mammography—Mammograms are used to examine breast health and are the most effective method of detecting breast cancer. Breast imaging can help identify abnormal growths, breast cancer, cysts, lumps, and mastitis. Digital mammography, also known as 3D mammography, provides clear lesion images, reducing the need for unnecessary biopsies.
  • Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)—MRI scans use magnetic fields and radio waves to produce images of tissue and internal organs. This noninvasive imaging exam can help physicians diagnose and plan treatment for diseases and injury.
  • Nuclear medicine—Nuclear medicine imaging uses tiny amounts of radioactive tracer material and a gamma camera to produce images of the body. This imaging modality allows physicians to detect, monitor and treat diseases within the body.
  • Ultrasound—This imaging method uses sound waves to produce images of the body called sonograms. Ultrasounds allow us to view and monitor internal structures of the body without any radiation.
  • Dexa Scans- A DEXA scan is a high-precision type of X-ray that measures your bone mineral density and bone loss. If your bone density is lower than normal for your age, it indicates a risk for osteoporosis and bone fractures.
  • X-ray—X-ray imaging involves a small dose of radiation to produce a picture of an area inside the body. This common imaging method allows us to detect broken bones, infections, and dislocated joints.
